Bees and honey were a major and persistent symbol in Greek culture and were the foundation of life and often linked with knowledge, health, and power. Bees were considered sacred and servants of the gods. Their honey was worshipped due to its healing attributes and power, and their hives were viewed as models for community and living in harmony with nature. The original coin was minted between 174BC – 110BC. Jewelry is a replica cast from an original from my personal collection of ancient coins.
